Westerkerk Amsterdam

Westerkerk is one of Amsterdam’s most iconic churches, located right next to the Anne Frank House in the Jordaan district. Built in the early 1600s in Dutch Renaissance style, this Protestant church features a tall, elegant spire that rises 85 meters, making it the tallest church tower in the city. The tower, called the “Westertoren,” is open to visitors and offers some of the best panoramic views of Amsterdam.

Inside, the church is spacious and bright, with a beautiful 17th-century organ and the tomb of famous painter Rembrandt, who is believed to be buried here. The church remains active with regular services, concerts, and events, and is free to enter. Its proximity to major attractions and its peaceful atmosphere make it a popular stop for both history buffs and those seeking a quiet moment of reflection amid sightseeing.
